The first theoretical and practical courses organized by Vilnius research group took place as precongress courses of the 15th annual meeting of general practice dentists of Lithuania in Druskininkai on the 8th of October in 2009. Not only experienced dentists, but also young doctors and even students were interested in the subject of the course and attended it. It was given a comprehensive analysis of the problems associated with the deep subgingivally placed implant that a dentist might face while making a prostheses on such an implant. The main subject consisted of the analysis of the materials and methods of the impression, temporary implant supported crows for contouring of the gingival tissues before permanent prostheses, the selection of the prosthetic abutments and selection of the prostheses construction, principles of cementation, removal of the excess of the cement and its influence on the long lasting good clinical result of the prostheses, complications and their prevention. All the participants got not only the theoretical knowledge, but also a chance to take an impression of a deep subgingivally placed implant themselves, to compare the stability of the impression transfers and laboratory implants using different impression materials and different techniques suggested by dr. Tomas Linkevicius. After the course every participant was asked to give anonymous feedbacks, which were really positive.
