Statement of the problem:
Usually cemented implant supported prostheses are being used while restoring missing teeth using dental implants. That is the reason why dentist face cement’s excess cleaning problem everyday. Undetected cement after delivery of the prostheses is being related to the acute or chronic periimplantitis in the scientific articles recently.
That is why we have decided to find out the factors influencing total removal of the excess of the cement after cementation of the restorations. Moreover, to find out what might be the reasons that sometimes these cement remnants are left. Could an x ray still be a golden standard in implant prosthetic dentistry; is it a significant way to detect cement remnants after cleaning?
We believe that location of the margin between prosthetic abutment and crown is the most important factor determining the proper removal of the cement’s excess.
We have planned several researches concerning influence of the location of the margin on the undetected cement:

  1. In vitro research with casts
  2. Clinical research to prove that in vitro results confirm the real clinical situation. And to evaluate the x ray on detection of the cement remnants.
  3. In vivo research with rats.
